A slew of international and Mexican law firms has helped US broadcasting network Univision and Mexico’s Televisa in a US$4.8 billion merger to create the world’s largest Spanish-language media company, backed by Google, Japan’s SoftBank and US investor The Raine Group.

Carrefour buys Brazilian assets for US$1.4 billion

Sullivan & Cromwell LLP in New York and Brazilian law firms Machado Meyer Advogados and BMA - Barbosa, Müssnich, Aragão have helped the local branch of French supermarket chain Carrefour acquire Grupo BIG from US counterpart Walmart and private equity investor Advent in a deal worth 7.5 billion reais (US$1.4 billion).
