Stricter enforcement of equal opportunity legislation
On October 2 Ministry of Employment and Social Security Directive No. 7-2001 was published in Gazette No. 189. In the Directive, the ministry instructs its inspectors to take tougher action to ensure that Title XII of the Costa Rican Labour Code is respected. This forbids all forms of discrimination in employment, particularly on the grounds of gender, race, religion or age.
