Colombia’s Aguadulce port JV eyes Pacific trade

The Singapore office of Clifford Chance LLP and Colombia’s Gómez-Pinzón Zuleta Abogados have helped Singaporean port operator PSA International form a joint venture with Philippine port manager International Container Terminal Services (ICTSI) to construct the container terminal and ancillary facilities for the Aguadulce port located in the Colombian state of Buenaventura.

Panamanian firm Vallarino, Vallarino & García-Maritano has helped Manzanillo International Terminal (MIT) extend its concession contract to operate a container terminal in Panama by 20 years, with a commitment to invest a further US$270 million in what is the largest container port in the Caribbean.

Colombia withdraws from ICJ after Nicaragua dispute

Colombia has withdrawn from a treaty recognising the International Court of Justice (ICJ) over what it claims is an unfair judgment in a maritime dispute with Nicaragua that saw the Central American nation gain three-quarters of the disputed territory – a move that Nicaragua’s counsel thinks could lead to more lawsuits against the Andean nation before its withdrawal takes effect.
