Colombia’s Ecopetrol buys majority stake in ISA

Colombia’s largest oil company Ecopetrol has hired Baker McKenzie LLP in Bogotá, Buenos Aires, Santiago and Lima and Trench Rossi Watanabe in São Paulo to acquire a majority stake in Interconexión Eléctrica (ISA) from the Colombian government in a deal worth 14.2 trillion pesos (US$3.7 billion).

Peru defeats hydro arbitration at ICSID

Six hydroelectric power companies have seen their International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) case against Peru dismissed on jurisdiction after a tribunal ruled that they could not combine their claims to meet contractual requirements that disputes must be worth over US$20 million to be heard at the centre.
