State Grid completes US$3 billion purchase of Chile’s CGE

Chinese power company State Grid has relied on Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP in Beijing and Claro y Cía in Santiago to complete its 2.6 billion euros (US$3 billion) acquisition of Spanish counterpart Naturgy’s stake in Chilean transmission group Compañía General de Electricidad (CGE).

Brazil’s largest aluminium producer CBA launches IPO

Companhia Brasileira de Alumínio (CBA) has enlisted Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP in São Paulo and New York and Brazilian firm Mattos Filho, Veiga Filho, Marrey Jr e Quiroga Advogados to raise 1.6 billion reais (US$314 million) in an initial public offering, becoming the first listed aluminium company on the Novo Mercado segment of the São Paulo stock exchange, B3.

US firm Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP and Mexico’s Mijares, Angoitia, Cortés y Fuentes SC have helped air travel company Aerodrome Infrastructure finalise its previously launched tender offer to acquire shares in local counterpart Aeroportuario del Centro Norte (OMA) for 8.4 billion Mexican pesos (US$419 million), following several changes to the original deal.
