Biography

Yves Hayaux-du-Tilly has been advising for nearly 30 years multinationals, Mexican and foreign investors in mergers & acquisitions and financing transactions, and corporate matters related to their operations in Mexico and Latin America.

He is recognised as one of LatAm’s leading experts in insurance and reinsurance derived from his particularly strong background and transactional experience representing companies within the insurance and financial industries and his excellent track record handling regularly high-end transactions for leading clients of the insurance and financial sector.

He has been leading NHG’s pioneering London office this last ten years, bringing NHG’s expertise on Mexican law to the London market to advise clients from the insurance sector on their reinsurance operations with Mexico and Latin America. He also regularly advises leading international corporations and multinationals and acts as Mexican co-counsel to international law firms in transactions and business involving Mexico and Latin America. Today, he is actively working with institutional investors and financial institutions in all range of ESG and sustainability-related projects.

Yves is a dedicated lawyer who, besides taking the time for each of his clients and matters, finds time to participate in different professional associations. He formed the Mexican Chamber of Commerce in Great Britain (MexCC) in 2011, served as its chairman from 2011 to 2019, and currently serves as honourary chairman of the MexCC. He is a former chairman of the Mexican Association of Insurance and Bonding Law (AMEDESEF), member of the Presidential Council of the International Association of Insurance Law (AIDA), former chair of the Financial Law Committee of the Mexican Association of Corporate Counsels (ANADE), former chair of the Mexican Committee of the Section of International Law of the American Bar Association (ABA), and a member of the Unión Social de Empresarios Mexicanos (USEM), of the Commercial Bar Association (COMBAR), and of the Chapter Zero UK (the Director’s Climate Forum).

Yves regularly advises the subsidiaries of all major international companies operating in Mexico and Latin America and leading Mexican insurers, including Assurant, AXA, BUPA, BNP Paribas Cardif, Chubb, Dentegra, GNP, MetLife, Principal, Secured Legal Title, The Travelers Companies, Sofia Salud and Zurich. He currently serves as non-executive and independent director of Dentegra Seguros Dentales, Pensiones Principal, Sofia Salud; and GNP International Ltd.

Yves attended the programme on the United States Legal System at Georgetown University and the Future Leaders Programme of the French government at the ESSEC business school in Paris. He qualified as an attorney at the Universidad Panamericana.
