Master’s law in corporate law – New York University, USA (2005)
Doctor in law and social sciences – Catholic University of Uruguay (2001).
Mr Gurméndez practises corporate law and is highly specialised in M&A, banking, finance and foreign investment. He advises both national and foreign companies and banking institutions on financial and commercial transactions. Mr Gurméndez is also specialised in energy law with an emphasis on renewable energies and infrastructure. His clients include IDB, IIC, Santander España, Cubico Sustainable, Fotowatio, Solarpac and Interconexion Electrica.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr Gurméndez worked for Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle LLP in New York (2005–2007). Significant experience acquired in banking law, energy law and international arbitration.
Mr Gurméndez is a member of the Uruguayan Bar Association; and serves as professor of economic transactions law at Universidad ORT in Montevideo, Uruguay.
