Simon Firth is co-head of the Latin America practice group at Maples and Calder, the Maples Group's law firm. He practises both BVI and Cayman Islands law, and advises clients both originating from and investing into the Latin American region. Simon has over 20 years' extensive experience structuring transactions in the region, having first travelled to and worked in Brazil in 1996.
Simon represents financial institutions, public and private companies, private equity and hedge funds on all aspects of offshore structures, with particular focus on structured finance including bond financings, project finance, asset finance and securitisation transactions; investment funds, including private equity and hedge funds; and general corporate matters including joint ventures, mergers, acquisitions and preference share financings.
Over the past 10 years, Simon has been responsible for structuring structured finance and fund transactions with respect to investment into and out of the Latin American region with a value in excess of US$50 billion.
