Sérgio Savi is a partner in BMA’s dispute resolution team that has gone through a series of distressed type cases and is very familiar with the particularities of deal making and litigating under such scenario.
He has been involved and had an active role in some of the most important business reorganisation proceedings in Brazil since the enactment of the Brazilian Bankruptcy Law, including the largest ever restructuring case in Latin America (as counsel for the telecommunications Oi Group) with ancillary proceedings in multiple jurisdictions such as The Netherlands, the United States, England and Portugal.
Sérgio Savi holds a PhD/JSD in private law from UERJ and an LLM in international legal studies from NYU. He is frequently recommended as one of the top lawyers in restructuring by well-known legal directories such as Chambers Latin America.
Sérgio Savi is a member of the International Insolvency Institution (NextGen), the IBA’s Section on Insolvency, Restructuring and Creditors Rights, International Association of Restructuring, Insolvency and Bankruptcy Professionals (INSOL) and Turnaround Management Association (TMA).
He is a guest lecturer in the FGV Law Program, the postgraduate programme offered by the Fundação Getúlio Vargas law school in Rio de Janeiro.
