Born in Mexico City, Mexico. Educated at Universidad Iberoamericana (JD, 1999) and Boston University School of Law (LLM in international banking and financial law, 2001). Worked as foreign associate at Latham & Watkins (2001–2002). Mr Velasco is a member of the firm’s board of directors, the managing partner of the firm and his practice focuses on banking and finance, bankruptcy and restructurings and capital markets. He represents domestic and foreign financial institutions as well as corporate borrowers in a wide range of secured and unsecured financings, across several industries. His expertise includes commercial financings, acquisition financings, real estate financings, ship financings and project finance and varied cross-border debt offerings. In the bankruptcy and restructurings arena, he represents creditors and debtors on all non-litigation aspects of complex bankruptcy and out-of-bankruptcy restructurings.
