Biography

Patricio Montes joined Larrain y Asociados in 1996 and has been a partner since 2008. His main practice areas are corporate and commercial law, project financing, mergers, acquisitions and tax planning.

He studied at the Faculty of Law of University of Chile (LLB) being admitted in 1998 and obtained a master’s degree in law (LLM) at Georgetown University, USA, in 2001. Furthermore, he achieved a Certificate in Analysis and Tax Planning (2007) and a master’s in taxation law (2010) both at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile; and in 2016 he pursued a tax reform diploma at Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez.

Patricio Montes was a foreign associate at Shearman & Sterling, New York during 2002 and 2003.

He is assistant professor of civil law at the University of Chile (2004 to this day) and since 2015 is professor of the module of finance in the master’s of corporate law at Universidad de Los Andes.
