Mauricio is an attorney, licensed to practise law since 1993. He has a bachelor’s degree from the ITAM and holds a postgraduate studies degree from Harvard (International Tax Program).
For the past 18 years, he has served as a partner with Deloitte Mexico on the business tax service line and was a partner with Baker McKenzie for two years.
In the private sector, Mauricio has practised tax law, specifically regarding international tax but has also developed domestic tax planning and litigation and tax controversy, focused mainly on multinational enterprises.
Currently, he is the tax controversy leader for Deloitte Mexico.
During his public service tenure (nine years) he held office as assistant chief counsel for large taxpayer, assistant chief counsel international and assistant general director for international tax policy and treaty negotiations. He also served as the Mexican Ministry of Finance and Public Credit’s representative for tax and customs issues before the US and Canadian government in the Washington, DC office for two years.
