Marissa Alcala’s practice focuses on representing multilateral and bilateral agencies, commercial bank lenders, and project developers in international and domestic project financings, and equity transactions, with an emphasis on renewable and clean energy. Her work in the United States has also included numerous tax equity investments in the renewable energy sector. In Latin America, Asia and Africa, her work is centred on the financing and development of energy projects in emerging markets.
Marissa has extensive experience working on project financings and related restructurings in Latin America for over 17 years. In Latin America, she has worked on numerous solar and hydro projects, as well as telecom, pipeline, oil and gas, and other energy projects. Of note, Marissa represented the lenders on the initial financing and two subsequent restructurings for the US$3billion, 531MW Alto Maipo hydro project under construction in Chile. She also recently represented the lenders in the financing of Energía del Pacífico’s approximately US$1billion, 378MW LNG-to-power project currently under construction at the Port of Acajutla in El Salvador.
