Biography
Marcos is an experienced transactional lawyer. He has been the managing partner of ALTA-QIL+4 offices in Guatemala for more than three years. He is responsible for the firm’s overall practice, with strategic focus on planning, growth, people development and client success. He is also co-head of the corporate department and leads its M&A practice.
He focuses on mergers and acquisitions, banking and finance, corporate law, restructurings, strategic alliances and business law in general, representing international and local companies. Due to his transactional experience, he works closely with the firm´s dispute resolution practice in complex business litigation.
Marcos's negotiating skills and experience as a transactional lawyer have gained him recognition by his peers, business community and others as highly regarded M&A lawyer in Guatemala.
Marcos has been involved in the rapidly changing aspects of antitrust law in Guatemala to adapt practices and business activities to comply with yet-to-be-enacted antitrust laws by the Guatemalan Congress.
He has been a law professor at Universidad Francisco Marroquín, Universidad Rafael Landivar and Universidad del Istmo in the areas of civil law, commercial law and international business transactions. He is currently the president of the advisory board of the Universidad del Istmo Law School.
