Luiz Fernando Valente de Paiva has practised in reorganisations by structuring multi-stage solutions for complex cases, which include the acquisition of assets and coordination of cross-border procedures. He has acted in complex litigations involving insolvent companies seeking to impose liability on the firm’s clients, among others. He focuses his practice on corporate reorganisation and liquidation; debt recovery and renegotiation; counselling to creditors, financiers, debtors, investment funds and investors in distressed companies; and commercial litigation. He holds LLM degrees from Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo and from Northwestern University. He has been partner since 2003, and since May 2018, he has acted as chairman of the board of TMA Brazil. He was a member of the Joint Ministerial Committee that prepared the final draft of the Bankruptcy Law and is currently a member of the National Council of Justice’s working group dedicated to the modernisation and effectiveness of insolvency proceedings.
