Biography
Luiz is senior partner and head of Azevedo Sette Advogados’ corporate M&A practice in São Paulo office. He draws upon more than 25 years’ extensive experience in complex transactions involving commercial contracts, foreign investments, mergers and acquisitions, and intellectual property matters to companies, domestic and foreign investment funds, and shareholders.
LLB from PUC/MG Law School, and was admitted to practice in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, in 1989. Master’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania, EUA (LLM, 1995).
Luiz was general counsel in Microsoft Brazil (1998–2002) and Lead Regional General Counsel Microsoft Latin America (2002–2008). In Microsoft, Luiz led a group of more than 160 attorneys across dozens of subsidiaries providing legal support for worldwide commercial transactions in excess value of US$ 58 billion, being responsible for all programmatic legal work for the Microsoft sales organisation and support to all sales units worldwide. Besides, the partner was a foreign associate at Simpson, Thatcher & Bartlett, New York (1995).
