Biography
Luis is the head partner of the international trade and customs practice. He is a key partner of the tax practice. He has assisted his clients in solving the complexities of establishing and or operating businesses in Mexico. This includes strategic and preventive counsel international trade and customs, including the establishment in Mexico of OEMs and auto part companies, IMMEX companies, maquila operations, VAT certifications, verifications of origin under free trade agreements, antidumping procedures as well as legal defence before different governmental bodies. His experience includes having participated as “expert witness” in an investor-state proceeding under NAFTA and in a declaration of unconstitutionality by the Supreme Court of Justice in relation to the maquila system. His knowledge of the local market and the Mexican judicial system allow him to keep clients protected and aware of any current or substantive and regulatory developments in order to take preventive measures and avoid risks.
