Juan Ignacio Soma is a partner within the firm’s general corporate practice. He has broad experience in international corporate restructuring and corporate governance matters in numerous jurisdictions. In addition, he regularly advises clients on international business transactions, including M&A, financing and capital market transactions, and corporate governance matters.
Mr Soma’s recent transactional work includes Tenaris's joint venture with Inner Mongolia Baotou Steel for the construction of a steel pipe premium threading plant in Inner Mongolia, China; Tenaris’s US$1.2 billion acquisition of IPSCO Tubulars; the renegotiation of Ternium’s shareholders' agreement with Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation with respect to Usiminas, settling the biggest shareholder dispute in Brazilian history; and Ternium’s €1.45 billion acquisition of Brazilian steelmaker CSA Siderurgica do Atlantico from thyssenkrupp.
Prior to joining the firm, he was an in-house lawyer with the Legal Secretariat of the Techint Group Presidency (2002–2007).
