Juan Carlos Tristán has over 15 years of experience. His practice areas are real estate and hospitality, compliance and anti-corruption, and business law.
Juan Carlos advises local and transnational companies on mergers and acquisitions, agreements and restructurings. He has been involved in the development, structuring, financing, and purchase and sale of real estate projects in the coastal and urban areas of Costa Rica. He has vast experience in the implementation of anti-corruption control policies in connection with the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA). He currently holds the position of President of the Anticorruption Commission – Costa Rica Chapter of the International Chamber of Commerce. In addition, he is a member of the Ibero-American Group of Compliance Lawyers and represents Costa Rica on the Anti-Corruption Commission of the International Bar Association.
Juan Carlos graduated summa cum laude from the University of Costa Rica. He earned a master’s degree in American law – international business from Boston University School of Law, winning Boston University Scholar recognition.
