Biography

Senior partner, Dr Josemaria Bustamante has assisted international clients in multilateral transactions; cross-border transactions; mergers and acquisitions; project financing and management; public procurement; civil, commercial, corporate and tax law; international trade; franchising, licensing and distribution; in the following sectors: insurance; banking; finance; stock exchange; aviation; communications; maritime; energy; agrochemical industry; beverage industry; agroindustry; and, fishing and food industry. Dr Bustamante is also active in mediation, arbitration and civil litigation. 

Pro bono work includes having obtained the first certificate of protection in Ecuador, which was granted to Luthier Hugo Chiliquinga; and the first patent conferred to a Luthier in Ecuador; Fundación Zaldumbide-Rosales (promoting musicians worldwide); and the Global Foodbanking Network.

Obtained a licentiate degree in 1997 and a doctorate in 2004 from the Pontifical Catholic University of Ecuador, based in Quito.

Member of the Quito Bar Association.
