Biography
José Guardo is a partner in the global financial markets practice in Spain. He specialises in energy and infrastructure projects in Spain, Latin America and worldwide and has been involved in a large number of renewable transactions advising both lenders and sponsors. He was the first Spanish lawyer to receive the Chambers Outstanding Contribution to the Legal Profession award, and is also listed as a Leading Lawyer by IFLR1000 for banking, project finance and restructuring and insolvency in Spain, and as a Leading Lawyer by The Legal 500 EMEA for banking and finance and projects and energy in Spain.
José's experience includes advising (i) Doppelmayr, as international counsel, on the structuring of a cable car private initiative project in Quito (Ecuador), and (ii) lenders on the financing of the design, construction, rehabilitation and maintenance of 272 kilometers of railway from Paso de los Toros to Montevideo (Uruguay). He advised IDB Invest on the US$50 million financing to Atento S.A., the largest CRM and BPO provider in LatAm; and Concesionaria Vial Unión del Sur and Sacyr on a US$906 million 4G toll road financing in Colombia.
