Biography
Born in Mexico City, Mexico. Educated at Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (JD, 2003) and New York University (LLM, 2007) with an Advanced Professional Certificate in law and business from NYU Stern School of Business. Worked as foreign associate in the New York and London offices of Cravath, Swaine and Moore LLP (2207–2009). Mr Montaño specialises in mergers and acquisitions, private equity and capital markets, as well as corporate and commercial matters. Mr Montaño has actively represented domestic and international companies in cross-border transactions, including advising on the structuring and execution of joint ventures and private equity. He also represents fund managers in the creation of their investment platforms, both in Mexico and abroad, in both private equity and venture capital space. In the field of capital markets, he represents US and Mexican underwriters and Mexican issuers in equity capital market transactions, including the IPOs, as well as in investment-grade and high-yield bond transactions.
