Joamir Alves has extensive experience in cross-border and local M&A transactions, acting both on the buy-side and on the sell-side of deals in various market segments including retail, real estate, education, industry and energy. Recently, Joamir advised Mubadala group in the competitive process for acquisition of the RLAM refinery from Petrobras and assisted the founding shareholders of Brazilian retailer Cobasi in receiving an investment from PE fund Kinea. He has also advised several private equity funds in their investments in Brazil over the past years.
He holds a bachelor's degree in law from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC-SP), a specialization degree in law from the Getúlio Vargas Foundation (FGV) and LLM from the Harvard Law School. He worked as foreign associate at Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton LLP and he is fluent in Portuguese, English and Spanish.
