Biography
Javier is a partner at Nader, Hayaux & Goebel who specialises in project finance, energy and infrastructure, restructuring and insolvency, cross-border financing including real estate and asset-based lending.
He heads NHG’s aviation practice, mainly representing financial institutions. Javier's practice in infrastructure, energy and projects involves all stages of structuring, development and financing, where he has advised government agencies, banks, funds and developers across different sectors, with a particular emphasis on renewable energy and natural resources. Javier has also recently advised local and foreign companies in mergers & acquisition transactions.
Javier is an important member of the restructuring and insolvency practice of the firm and has over 20 years of experience, mainly representing creditors. He is actively involved in asset-based financing and has an outstanding track record representing lenders in large real estate financing; as well as guarantors, lenders and lessors in commercial and corporate aircraft financing and leasing.
Javier is a fellow of the American College of Commercial Finance Lawyers and is an active speaker at national and international forums, as well as the author of several articles in his fields published in Latin Lawyer and The Law Review, among others.
Javier obtained his Law degree (graduating with honours) at the Instituto Tecnológico Autonomo de México (ITAM) and obtained a diploma in commercial law (with honours) from Universidad Panamericana. In addition, he studied an LLM at the Northwestern Pritzker School of Law in Chicago (with honours) and received a diploma in Management from JL Kellogg School of Management. He also worked as a foreign associate in the Latin America fiancé practice group at Mayer Brown LLP, in New York.
