Biography
Guzmán has been recently promoted to partner. He has extensive experience in corporate law and finance with a particular focus in M&A. Guzmán, has been on the frontline of the most significant investments and transactions in the Uruguayan market in recent times. He has participated in the acquisition of Moove-IT by Recognize Partners Moove-IT. On the other hand, the Overactive transaction in 2021 is believed to be the largest M&A involving a Uruguayan company so far and one of the largest technology acquisitions in Uruguay’s history.
Guzmán co-leads the teams in charge of the day-to-day legal work of household names such as Goldman Sachs, Banco Itaú and Coca-Cola FEMSA. He is also frequently instructed to intervene in complex corporate matters.
A graduate of Harvard Law School (LLM), Guzman’s international experience includes working in the New York offices of Linklaters LLP. Guzman is the Harvard Alumni Contact in Uruguay and a member of the Latin America Regional Council of World Services Group.
He has won several first prizes for his books and articles, including the Adolfo Gelsi Bidart civil procedure law prize. In 2022, he launched his recent book, Share Purchase Agreements.
