Experience and background
Guillermo is a partner at Santos-Elizondo. His practice focuses mainly on corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, and international business transactions. Guillermo participated, among other transactions, in advising Ally Financial, Inc in the sale of Aba Seguros to Ace Limited and in the sale of Ally Credit, SA de CV and Servicios GMAC, SA de CV to General Motors Financial Company; Grupo Valores Operativos Monterrey, SAPI de CV in the sale of Primero Fianzas to Liberty Mutual, Primero Seguros to Amtrust Group and Primero Seguros Vida to Sura; he also advised Masterlease (UK) Limited in its sale to Banregio; to the shareholders of Quimicompuestos in the sale to Univar; the shareholders of Thermotek in the sale of that company to BASF and a Mexican private company in the acquisition of a minority interest in the English company Thomson & Scott. Guillermo was a foreign associate at Davis Polk & Wardwell from 1993 to 1994, general counsel for Latin America from 1998 to 2001 (Detroit, MI) and general counsel for International Operations (UK) from 2002 to 2005 at General Motors Acceptance Corporation.
Guillermo obtained his law degree from the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey in1991. In 1993, he completed an international law master’s degree at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
