Biography
Fernando has acted as a general corporate strategic counsel for transnational, regional and local companies doing business in Costa Rica and the rest of Central America, focusing on corporate matters that have ranged cross-border business transactions covering mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures, corporate reorganisations, foreign investment, market entry issues, compliance and corporate governance.
He also participates in structuring projects for energy generation, telecommunications and infrastructure, and in the set-up of manufacturing and shared services operations for global companies in Costa Rica under the Free Trade Zone Regime, including several ranked in the Fortune 500 listing, among others.
Fernando holds an LLM degree from Georgetown University Law Center, Washington, DC (1998), is a licensed attorney in the Republic of Costa Rica (1995, cum laude distinction), and a notary public since 1995.
