Biography

Senior partner of the firm. Main expertise: banking/finance, securities law, capital markets, M&A and international arbitration. Attorney-at-law from both the University of Buenos Aires, 1978 and from the University of Uruguay, 1979. Master’s in business law, Uruguayan Institute of Business Studies, 1990. 

In June 2015, he was appointed by the World Council of the International Chamber of Commerce as member representative of Uruguay to serve at the International Court of Arbitration, until June 2018. Reappointed for an additional period of three years. President of an Arbitral Tribunal by the Centre for Conciliation and Settlement of Disputes of the Uruguayan Chamber of Commerce in a millionaire real estate dispute (2014). Part of the roster of arbitrators for the Centre for Mediation and Arbitration of the Uruguayan Chamber of Commerce. Appointed by the government of Uruguay with the prior approval of the guild of lawyers of Uruguay as member of the shortlist of arbitrators of the ICSID treaty for settlement of disputes.
