Biography
Enrique is founding partner of the firm and has over 35 years of experience as a leading expert in cross-border transactions with emphasis in energy, power generation, M&A’s, joint ventures, project finance and international commercial arbitration. He supports his transactional practice by bringing together his corporate and dispute resolution experience, for the structuring and negotiation of transactions.
Enrique mainly represents domestic and foreign clients from the oil and gas industry in a wide range of projects and transactions related to the energy and infrastructure sector. Some of the energy matters he advises clients include their participation in public bids as well as their entrance into the reshaped energy market in Mexico, among other regulatory matters.
His experience also includes acting as lawyer, arbitrator and/or mediator in a variety of controversies promoted under the auspices of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and the International Commission for Settlement of Disputes of the American Arbitration Association.
Enrique is President of the Mexico-Brazil Bilateral Committee; founding President of the Instituto Mexicano de la Mediación; chairman of the board of the Mexican Bar Association’s Foundation; Alternate Representative for Mexico of the Commercial Dispute Consulting Committee created under the North America Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and former Vice President from the United States–Mexico Chamber of Commerce (Southwest Chapter). He has been co-chair of Latin Lawyer’s Oil & Gas Conference and is part of its steering committee.
Enrique obtained an LLM in comparative jurisprudence from the University of Texas in Austin and his law degree (JD equivalent) from Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City.
