Biography

Educated at Pontificía Universidad Católica del Perú, School of Law (1991); Escuela Nacional de Aduanas (1993); Bureau Veritas Certificate, specialisation course in import supervision and certification held in Houston and Miami (1997). Previous work experience: Superintendencia Nacional de Aduanas, officer (1992–1997) in charge of drafting legal rules to regulate foreign trade and customs operations; customs appraisal and import inspection specialist; adviser to the Peruvian state on the drafting of customs legislation and the creation, implementation and training in the operation of the Single Window for Foreign Trade (VUCE). Professor of customs law at Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas (UPC) (2000 to date); member of the Asociación Peruana de Derecho Aduanero y Comercio Internacional (Apdaci). Fluent in Spanish and English. Practice areas: foreign trade and customs.
