David Gutiérrez is a founding partner of BLP with over 20 years of professional experience. Long considered one of the most prominent lawyers in Costa Rica as well as internationally, he has a profound knowledge of business law, project finance, banking and finance, and energy and infrastructure, and has advised major national and foreign corporations on some of the most complex transactions in the Central American region.
David’s reputation for excellence has earned professional recognition in the form of board memberships and appointments, such as senior vice chair of the Latin American Regional Forum of the International Bar Association (IBA), president of the International Center for Conciliation and Arbitration of the Costa Rican-American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM), vice president of the Costa Rican chapter of Junior Achievement, and president of the Costa Rican Association of International Law. In 2018, he was promoted within the IBA to co-chair of the Regional fora Coordination Committee.
After graduating from the University of Costa Rica Law School, David earned an LLM degree at Georgetown University, which he attended as a William J Fulbright scholar.
