Biography
Carlos Pinto is a partner at PPO and leads the corporate and finance teams.
Within the corporate sphere, he advises clients from a wide range of industries in connection with investments and divestments in Bolivia, restructurings with a local and cross-border component, as well as mergers and acquisitions. In recent years, Carlos has advised clients such as Abbott, Petrobras, Owens Illinois, Shell, Bayer, Dow AgroSciences, BTG Pactual, Phoenix Tower, Unilever, among others, in transactions totalling billions of dollars, having a direct impact on Bolivia’s economy.
In parallel, he frequently advises international and multilateral banks on complex project and structured finance transactions, as well as corporate financing, including syndicated loans, secured financing and capital market transactions in Bolivia and abroad. Similarly, he often advises investment banks, credit rating agencies and insurers and reinsurers in connection to regulatory and administrative law matters.

Prior to joining PPO, Carlos was a partner in a regional law firm for almost 10 years. Before that, he worked as an international lawyer in the Caracas, Venezuela office of McLeod Dixon LLP (Now Dentons) and in Mayer Brown LLP’s offices in Brazil. He also served as legal consultant to Lockheed Martin Corporation in Washington DC and worked for law firms in Los Angeles and Washington DC.
