Biography

Born in Mexico City, Mexico. Educated at Universidad Anahuac (JD, 1998) and Northwestern University School of Law, Chicago, Illinois (LLM, 2001) and Kellogg Graduate School of Business (postgraduate course in business, 2001). Worked as a foreign associate at Simpson, Thacher & Bartlett (2001 to 2002) and at Cuatrecasas Abogados, Madrid (2003–2005). His practice focuses on M&A, private equity and real estate. Regularly advises large multinationals and private equity investors and sponsors on acquisitions, investments, joint ventures and divestitures in Mexico across multiple industries and sectors. He also represents pension funds, private equity funds and other investors in their real estate projects in diverse asset classes during their development, construction, and management processes, including setting up their domestic or international operations in Mexico. Carlos also heads the firm’s pro bono programme and is a member of the board at Centro Mexicano Pro Bono and at Appleseed Mexico AC; he is also an active member of the Lawyers Council for Civil and Economic Rights of the Vance Center for International Justice.
