Biography

André Abbud is a partner in BMA’s arbitration and litigation practice. He has extensive experience in the resolution of complex commercial disputes, handling cases before the major arbitral institutions in Brazil and abroad and before the courts. He represents national and international clients in a variety of matters involving corporate, infrastructure and contract issues. 

André is Vice President of the Brazilian Arbitration Committee – CBAr, and co-chair of the Young Arbitration Branch of the International Bar Association's Arbitration Committee (IBA Arb40). He is also a member of the board of directors of the Brazilian Business Arbitration Chamber (CAMARB) and of the Brazilian Institute of Procedural Law (IBDP). He lectures at the Law School of the Fundação Getúlio Vargas – SP, and holds an LLM from Harvard Law School, and a PhD and an LLM from the University of São Paulo. He has authored three books, including Soft law and evidence gathering in international arbitration (2014).
