Partner promotions in its capital markets and environment groups in 2021 reflected an increase in client demand for these services. Clients simultaneously took advantage of the firm’s strong antitrust, banking and finance and energy groups to complement their project needs, with all these areas seeing an increase in work across the past 12 months.
As few Chilean competitors have carved out a data protection department as starkly as Prieto, the group stands out from the crowd, placing it in good stead for work related to Chile’s new data protection law. The firm places a lot of importance on protecting its data and that of its clients: its data security system even uses the same software as the US Department of State.
There is a particular focus on lawyers’ career development at Prieto. At the start of their career there, associates spend six months working in different practice areas, giving them a broader understanding of Chile’s legal market while pinpointing their strengths and interests. Meanwhile, Prieto opted to relocate to new offices in 2022, as part of a profound rethinking of the firm's model and internal processes.
