DLA Piper LLP

International Counsel

DLA Piper has established a substantial footprint in Latin America with varied offerings that cater to the specific needs of our global client base. The firm’s pan-hemispheric approach to delivering comprehensive services to our multinational clients underscores our view that the Latin America region is of utmost importance to the global business community.

Our strategic relationships on the ground throughout Latin America enhance our understanding of the region and enable us to provide our clients with practical, meaningful legal advice. DLA Piper’s global platform of 90+ offices in more than 40 countries enables us to serve all of our clients’ legal needs, whether they are based in Latin America or wish to do business there.

After joining DLA Piper’s global platform in 2017; Botto & Escobar SCRL has now fully integrated into the firm and changed its name to DLA Piper Perú. DLA Piper Perú has crafted a name for itself that belies its modest size. The firm is best known for its corporate and banking teams and can provide good project finance and infrastructure counsel, areas in which it aims to give competitors a good game. Recognition of its non-transactional offering is growing. Established practices like arbitration and tax are popular among clients, who describe them as committed and highly responsive. The firm also has a developing white-collar crime and compliance group, including criminal law, that is already doling out plenty of advice.

Being part of a big global brand also comes with strategic changes. The management acknowledges that it needs to work on how to adopt international standards while not losing the original firm’s style and culture. It also wants to push for a more aggressive client approach by paying clients more visits, and to make sure the office is a great place to work to retain talent. Through DLA Piper, the Peruvian firm is linked to a global network that includes offices in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Mexico.
