Peru was Cuatrecasas’ first outpost in South America; now, the Lima office is backed by outposts in Chile and Colombia. Locally, the firm has built up offerings in M&A and finance, while disputes and tax advice are on offer too.
In only a few years, the firm has built up a noted offering that is constantly growing its profile. This is largely thanks to the already established names the firm handpicked from some of the country’s best law firms, including Payet, Rey, Cauvi, Pérez Abogados and Estudio Echecopar member firm of Baker McKenzie International. A Spanish licenced-Cuatrecasas partner was also in the office as support during the first few years, but he returned to Madrid in 2022.
The firm has a high partner-to-associate ratio, meaning partners are at hand when clients need them. At the same time, associates get valuable experience by working closely with more senior lawyers. A corporate finance and M&A lawyer was promoted to partner in 2022, a sign that things are going well and organic growth is already in the making.
Offices
The Lima office forms part of Iberian firm Cuatrecasas’ regional network of outposts in the Pacific Alliance, Chile, Colombia and Mexico. Elsewhere in Latin America, the firm also has a foreign law consultancy in Brazil, while international offices in Madrid, Barcelona, Lisbon and New York are at hand when needed.
