Work areas

This firm is elite for services in the following work areas.

With unparalleled leadership in the local banking and finance market, Consortium Legal (Honduras) has carved out a space for itself as one of the top firms in Honduras when it comes to high-value transactional deals. The firm’s local expertise in this area is further solidified by its regional prowess, having been seen on key cross-border M&A across Central America.

Not only does the firm boast impressive corporate cross-border skills, but its non-transactional strength is also significant, with the Honduran office boasting an impressive tax practice, as well as having dispute resolution and IP prowess. The firm has an impressive roster of highly skilled lawyers, with no other law firm in Honduras having as many lawyers recommended in LACCA Approved, in-house counsel research conducted by the Latin American Corporate Counsel Association (LACCA), which is affiliated to Latin Lawyer. Consortium Legal (Honduras) remains committed to deepening its practice area specialisation and developing new offerings, with antitrust becoming more relevant.

Consortium Legal also places significant emphasis on the further training of its lawyers, encouraging associates to accept secondment opportunities. The firm has also put into place a programme specifically aimed toward the development of lawyers’ soft skills, including understanding the business of the client, as well as cultivating stronger interpersonal relationships. Meanwhile, the firm also displays a demonstrable commitment to ensuring client satisfaction, and as such has recently launched its client-centric services program, which is now being developed across the region.

Largely due to this client-centric approach, Consortium Legal finds itself among the most popular firm among the region‘s largest companies, according to research on Who Represents Latin America’s Biggest Companies, conducted by LACCA, which is affiliated to Latin Lawyer. According to this data, Consortium represents 14 of 100 of the biggest companies in Latin America, positioning the firm among the top three most popular firms in Central America among these clients.

Consortium Legal’s position as one of the original, leading Central American firms does not stop it from consistently making efforts to further institutionalise across the region. In this regard, a regional managing director works hard to improve corporate governance and the coordination of deals across the board, as well as strengthen the commercial and cultural links of its various offices. The firm’s integrated Central American footprint, combined with its solid commitment to improve its management, along with practice area coverage and specialised lawyers, make it a 2023 Latin Lawyer Elite firm in Central America.

Regional managing director Valeria Di Palma Carter coordinates the offices and works on office integration between the five jurisdictions. She reports to the board and the executive committee, which is represented by partners from each of the countries where the firm has offices. José Ramón Paz Padilla is the managing partner in Honduras. Álvaro Castellanos in Guatemala is the firm’s regional president.

Consortium Legal has six offices spread across Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. In Honduras, it has two offices: Tegucigalpa and the industrial hub of San Pedro Sula.
