Aguilar Castillo Love (Nicaragua)

Nicaragua

Going beyond the expected. The unprecedented global events of the past couple of years have not left the legal industry untouched. Like our close collaborators and clients – we have been challenged professionally and personally, as a business and as individuals. However, from these challenges, we focus on opportunities.

We have seen the importance – more than ever – of being a trusted adviser, confidant and leader – to go beyond the expected to help our clients achieve their long-term objectives. No two clients, no two transactions are completely alike – our legal teams are made-to-measure – to both client and circumstance. We work collaboratively with our clients, setting the foundation for trust, long-term relationships and further-reaching advice.

Prioritising agility through collaboration has seen us remain solid during the past two years, and grow. We now have a presence across nine Latin American jurisdictions: Bolivia (entered in January 2022), Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama and Paraguay. We are the first Latin American law firm to take a fully ‘pan-Latin American outlook’, positioning us as the first, homegrown, regional, Latin American law firm.

We grow with ambition and with care – paying careful attention to preserve the spirit and principles of the firm.

Aguilar Castillo Love has always been at the forefront of legal change and landmark cases. We have consistently redefined what it means to be a leading law firm and continue to provide the highest level of customer service and quality legal advice to a prestigious client base. Our multidisciplinary approach allows us to provide the top-level advice required on market-leading, cross-border transactions and cases – across risk, regulatory and transactional matters. We represent Latin American clients expanding in the region or reaching our globally – or international clients already operating or looking to invest in Latin America.

Our people. We look for bright, diverse minds to solve a broad range of problems and believe that understanding, empathy, drive, thoroughness, curiosity and imagination have a fundamental role alongside pure law. We are honoured that our reputation, quality of our work, nature of the deals we work on and the calibre of our clients means that we continue to attract exceptional legal minds.

Nicaragua. The Nicaraguan office is the exclusive counsel to the Nicaraguan Stock Exchange. As such, the office advised on the first default of a public bond issue in Nicaragua. The office also frequently advises companies on anti-money laundering obligation and international economic sanctions compliance programs. In relation to corporate and M&A, the office has carried out several investigations regarding the shareholding structure of the target companies, as well as of their movable and immovable assets.

Diversity and inclusion. We are a fully equal opportunities employer and do not discriminate on the grounds of gender, faith, age or sexuality. Even in a traditionally male-dominated profession women have been instrumental in the conception and development of our firm. A third of our partners are women. Our Nicaragua office was opened and is run by a female partner, who has also practised in Europe, earned a degree from Harvard and is a mother. To us, diversity is a strength.
