Wind farms get loan to cancel debt in Uruguay

Cuatrecasas in Madrid and Ferrere (Uruguay) have helped two wind farms in Uruguay operated by Spanish energy company Alarde obtain a loan to refinance and cancel an existing debt facility.

Alsea and Bain Capital co-invest in European restaurant operator

Mexican restaurant operator Alsea has hired Garrigues in Madrid and DLA Piper Gallástegui y Lozano in Mexico City to increase its stake in its subsidiary Alsea Europe through a joint investment with US private investment fund Bain Capital, worth nearly 111 million euros (US$128 million).

Iberian law firms have shown resilience in the face of the covid-19 pandemic, with Madrid-headquartered outfits Garrigues and Ecija both pulling in revenue growth for their global operations – including Latin America – while Cuatrecasas and Uría Menéndez recorded only a slight dip in global income.

The combined project bond issuance and bank debt package was one of Latin America’s largest power project financings in 2020 and occurred over two concurrent cross-border transactions.
