Luciano Benetti Timm is one of the founding partners of Carvalho, Machado e Timm Advogados, a law firm established in 2002 in the south of Brazil, which has grown nationally, expanding its services to other capitals like São Paulo, Brasilia and Rio de Janeiro. He teaches at Fundação Getulio Vargas in São Paulo. Luciano graduated in Law in 1994, obtained his master's degree in private law (1997) and a doctor's degree in business law (2004), both at the Federal University of Brazil. Besides, he has also achieved an LLM in the University of Warwick (1999) and postdoctoral fellowship at the University of California – Berkeley, focusing his studies on Law, Economics & Business (2007). He is a prominent figure in Brazilian arbitration due to his interdisciplinary knowledge. It has enabled him to understand his clients' businesses in order to provide them with the best legal strategies and advise. In the past year Luciano was invited to integrate the Ministry of Justice, as secretary of State of Consumer Affairs, being recognized for shifting consumer protection to a more economic regulation approach. Lately, he has being working in high complex commercial litigation cases before appellate courts and regulatory agencies.
