Biography
Javier José Vallarino is a partner at Icaza, González-Ruiz & Alemán. With over 20 years of experience, he specialises in labour counselling and social security matters, drafting various labour documents, negotiating collective labour agreements and labour litigation and providing these services to important Panamanian and international companies.
Since July 2008, he has been the head of Icaza, González-Ruiz & Alemán's labour department, providing comprehensive labour and social security advice to banks, construction companies, ports, multinational corporations and power generation companies, among others.
Mr Vallarino has also worked as Labour Adviser of the Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture of Panama for several years.
In addition, he has extensive experience as a lecturer and university professor. He has served as a professor in the department of labour law and social security at the Santa María La Antigua Catholic University. He has participated as a speaker in important events organised by companies, business associations and diplomatic institutions, lecturing on topics such as disciplinary sanctions, internal labour regulations, employment contracts, forms of termination of the employment relationship, just causes of dismissal, severance fund and social security, among others.
Mr Vallarino holds a postgraduate degree in labour law from Santa María La Antigua Catholic University, Panama (1998) and has a bachelor's degree in law and political science (1997) from the same institution.
He is a member of the Panama Bar Association, the Panamanian Academy of Labour Law and the National Association of Human Resources Professionals of Panama.
