Fernando is the head partner of the competition practice of Von Wobeser y Sierra. He is also a key partner of the corporate, M&A practice of the firm. Fernando has more than 15 years of experience advising leading multinational companies including leading corporations listed on the Fortune 500 list. He has unparalleled expertise and has been involved in some of the most important competition and antitrust cases handled in Mexico. These include the acquisition of Turin Chocolates by Mars Incorporated and the acquisition of Grupo Modelo by Anheuser Busch, among others.
He has represented clients in sophisticated and complex merger reviews as well as in investigations and litigations before the Mexican Antitrust Commission and the Mexican courts. Additionally, he has successfully represented several major leading global clients in historic investigations for monopolistic practices and in the most relevant and representative merger reviews.
Fernando has thorough experience in various industries including: alcohol, beverages, aviation, consumer goods, healthcare, pharmaceutical and technology sectors, as well as with banking and other financial institutions on both the antitrust/competition aspects of corporate deals, as well as in litigation matters.
In 2018, he was awarded Lawyer of the Year – under 40 by Global Competition Review and in 2016 he was listed also by Global Competition Review in its special report "40 Under 40". Additionally, he has been recognised by Chambers and Partners Global, Chambers and Partners Latin America, The Legal 500, Latin Lawyer 250, Who’s Who Legal and IFLR1000, among others.
