Biography

Armando is the regional managing partner of the firm. He started working at the firm in 1976, and in 1990 under his leadership the process of expansion began; the firm grew strong throughout Central America with his characteristic vision, passion and commitment. The firm currently has six offices, 43 partners and over 130 attorneys through the region.

Armando has broad experience in several practice areas in which he has led the banking and corporate departments, specialising in corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, international commerce and contracting, banking law, fiscal planning, and project finance. His participation in leading numerous legal proceedings and arbitrations that have been successfully concluded has been relevant.

He has made significant contributions to leading litigation and arbitrations that have been successfully concluded. He has also participated in local and multinational transactions (such as joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions and project finance), including some of the most complex transactions in the region. He has advised several business groups on negotiations of the free trade agreement between the United States and Central American countries, as well as the Association Agreement between the European Union and Central American countries.

His main areas of practice at the firm are:

  • banking, finance and insurance;
  • international trade, foreign investments and free trade zones;
  • corporate and commercial law;
  • mergers and acquisitions; and
  • taxes and fiscal planning.
