Mr André Gomes de Oliveira, a former tax consultant at Arthur Andersen, is the head of CBSG’s tax law practice. He has a broad background in domestic and foreign tax consulting and planning, having advised both Brazilian and international companies in projects in Brazil and abroad. He also coordinates the firm’s tax litigation practice, working with administrative and court cases.
He is a member of the Brazilian Bar Association (São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Brasilia), the International Bar Association and the Brazilian Academy of Tax Law. He is the vice-chairman of the British Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Rio de Janeiro. Mr Oliveira was a member of the organising committee of the 71st Congress of the International Fiscal Association (IFA) and a member of the Executive Comitee of the IFA (2014–2016), and was the General Secretary of ABDF, sole representative of IFA in Brazil (2015). Member of the Practice Council of the LLM course in international tax programme at the New York University School of Law (NYU). He has published articles on several tax issues, in Brazil and abroad, such as his contributions as national reporter to the IFA congresses held in Brussels (2008) and Copenhagen (2013). He has also participated as a speaker in several events, not only in Brazil but also abroad. He was the local correspondent for US Derivatives Magazine and also correspondent for the transfer pricing publication TP Week for the period 2014/2015.
