Biography
Carlos Cordero joined Alemán, Cordero, Galindo & Lee in 1985 as a founding partner. His professional practice is concentrated on banking, finance and capital markets; mergers and acquisitions; energy and natural resources; telecommunications, corporate law, commercial law and administrative law. Mr Cordero has advised domestic and international companies on a broad array of legal and commercial matters.
Mr Cordero has served as Ambassador At Large on Special Missions for the Defence and Promotion of the International Services of the Republic of Panama from 1999 to 2012; as Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1993 to 1994; and on the National Council of Foreign Affairs in the periods from 1993 to 1994 and from 1999 to 2004. He is a member of the board of directors of Cable & Wireless Panama, SA and also serves as secretary of the board of directors of Elektra Noreste, SA. He is a member of the Panama Bar Association.
Mr Cordero has a Bachelor of Law and Political Sciences from the University of Panama. Mr Cordero has been recognised as a Senior Statesman in the areas of banking and finance, corporate and M&A, and projects by the prestigious publication Chambers and Partners. He has also been recognised as a leading lawyer in the areas of corporate M&A and corporate governance by Who's Who Legal. He is fluent in Spanish and English.
