Two firms seal Copel wind power acquisition

Brazilian state-controlled power company Copel has hired Cescon, Barrieu, Flesch & Barreto Advogados to purchase a wind power complex from the local subsidiary of French renewables business Voltalia, worth some 1 billion reais (US$200 million).

Peruvian port operator Tramarsa’s US$132million syndicated loan funded the modernisation of the Salaverry port, which is the country’s first public-private partnership (PPP) port project. In accordance with PPP regulation, the country’s private investment promotion agency ProInversión had to approve the financing structure before it could close. This was the first time the agency had issued such approval, setting a precedent for future deals. It is our infrastructure project finance Deal of the Year.

Demarest Advogados, Madeira, Valentim & Gallardo Advogados and Mattos Filho, Veiga Filho, Marrey Jr e Quiroga Advogados have helped a consortium led by Brazilian logistics company Ecorodovias win the concession for a toll road that requires a 14 billion reais (US$2.6 billion) investment.
