Privatisation of power distribution companies goes ahead

The privatisation of 17 Ecuadorean power distribution companies, divided into two regional groups, is under way. Three international operators - Union Fenosa Internacional, AES Corp and Pecom Energia - have purchased the bases for the sale and are preparing to submit their tenders. At the request of AES Corp the term set for a public bidding process has been extended to October 29.
