Avianca has urged Colombia’s aviation regulator to modify the conditions imposed on its acquisition of Viva Air to take account of the latter’s reduced operations after it filed for insolvency last month.

Viva Air has blamed Colombia’s aviation regulator for its decision to file for insolvency, claiming the authority took too long to review its proposed acquisition by Avianca after the merging parties argued the failing firm defence.
