Pro bono profile: Fundación Barra Mexicana
Latin Lawyer’s ninth annual Deal of the Year Awards is being held in aid of three of the region’s pro bono clearinghouses. In the first of three profiles, we look at the Fundación Barra Mexicana. Since its inception 15 years ago, Fundación Barra Mexicana has sought to provide some of Mexico’s most disadvantaged individuals with legal advice – a goal which it is slowly starting to achieve, despite many leading Mexican firms only recently making moves to institutionalise pro bono practices. Like many clearinghouses, the foundation aims to achieve this by providing a matchmaking service for lawyers and those in need of free legal services.
